What is the Small Firms' Summit
 
The Small Firms' Summit creates a unique opportunity for owners, directors and managers of smaller companies to meet each other and consider the issues affecting them. They are encouraged to explore common problems and aspects of the Government's policies relating to, for example, regulation and red tape. They will be heard by major decision-makers and influencers.
 
When is the Summit
 
Wednesday, 17 October 2007
 
Participants will be able to register at 9.30am. The conference will open at 10.00am and close at 5.30pm.
 
There will then be a Parliamentary Reception.
 
Where will it be held
 
Central Hall, Westminster is located on Storey's Gate. It is across the road from Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament.

Who will be at the Summit?

There will be advice from directors and senior managers of successful private companies, prominent politicians and influential public servants.
 
The participants will be owner-managers and senior directors of private businesses.
 
The speakers include:
  • The Rt Hon Charles Clarke, MP for Norwich South. Secretary of State for Education and Skills (2002-04) and Home Secretary (2004-06)

  • Adam Afriyie MP, Chairman of the Conservative Party's Deregulation Task Force
  • Peter Ashburner, from Bargain Hunt, Cash in the Attic and Flog it

  • Alex Pratt OBE, serial entrepreneur, including lamps for spaceships
  • Janet Shelley MBE, founder of Women Builders
  • Anne Weinstock CBE, from the Department for Children, Schools and Families
  • Andrew Love MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Small Business Group
What is the parliamentary reception
 
The Parliamentary Reception will be held after the Summit. Our host will be Andrew Love MP, Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Small Business Group. The MP of each participant will be asked to join us. These additional guests enhance the opportunity for networking and for informal discussions. The Parliamentary Reception runs from 5.30pm to 7.00pm.
 
Charity auction
 
The FPB raises money for its chosen charity, the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG). There will be an auction in aid of the CCLG during the lunchtime interval. Peter Ashburner, who has appeared on Cash in the Attic, Flog It and Bargain Hunt will be the auctioneer.
 
 

Fees include all-day access to the event, conference papers, buffet lunch and refreshments, for registered participants only. Fees do not include travel costs or accommodation. Shared places are not permitted.
